Live in Uk, get married in Kwa Zulu Natal

Hi
I am looking for some advice.
I am South African currently living in South Wales, uk.
Myself and my partner ( who is welsh ) would like to get married on the kwa Zula natal coast.
I am looking for any tips or advice on any locations and hotels where we could get married. There will be family coming over with us and some meeting us there who live in SA.
We are hoping to come out in the summer months in 2015 between September and December. Any idea on when the best time would be to come. Are flights cheaper some dates or months..?
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Kristy

Hi Kristy

If you are bringing family with you it might be an idea to take a very large apartment overlooking the beachfront.
I went down to KZN with a wedding party and we all shared a very large apartment at Perna Perna Umhloti.
The views are great and there was a very large terrace where you could braai. It is more cost effective to pay
for an apartment per day rather than a hotel room for each individual. The apartments are fully equipped and furnished.

Steer clear of KZN during the month of October when the rains come. It can be miserable wet and grey. School holidays are usually the time when airfares and accomodation prices go sky high. But out of season is very reasonable.
From late November to Mid January is peak season and you need to book well in advance.

January and February are the hottest months and can be unpleasant. The humidity factor is very high.

i always feel that the best time to go to KZN is in May/June as it is lovely and warm during the day and cool in the
late afternoons and evenings.

I am not sure about the best wedding  venues but there are loads of gorgeous hotels in Umhlanga all with banqueting facilities.

I'm not a specialist in travel or wedding resources, but milesaway.travel does fantastic South African travel packages and we can vouch for them.

Hi Kirsty

If you are looking for a location which can cater to a large party you might like to have a look at Jex Estates Umvoti Mouth.

It's owned by some friends and specialises in weddings and other family events. Located just north of Durban There are 2 large houses by the beach you can stay in, a private beach, and I know they do weddings at all sorts of beautiful locations over the estate making it quite a unique place to get married.

It's one of my favourite places when we go to visit Durban and the people who run it are lovely!

Hope this helps and if you want to speak directly to the owner just let me know.

Congratulations and I hope you have an amazing wedding! :)

Durban's Golden Mile is a nice spot for a wedding.  There are frequent weddings at the Botanical Gardens.  Umhlanga gets crowded with tourists but there are several appropriate venues.
