Don't forget that the roads will be an absolute danger zone starting tomorrow till Wednesday night. Not only will there be masses of drunk Dominicans on the road but a good number of drunk Gringos as well.
For me off the roads for those 36 hours or so.

I am in full agreement. You will be fine until about late afternoon tomorrow, when anyone drinking at work or right after an early day ends...... then stay the hell off the roads.
And don't even think about getting a taxi, they will be in very short supply! Even they don't want to drive right now!
