What are the formalities to obtain a birth certificate?

What is the procedure to follow if both parents are of the same nationality or for a mixed couple?

Only those children born in India are eligible to obtain the Birth Certificate from the Municipal Corporation of the city where birth takes place. The maternity home or the hospital used for delivery of the child issues a certificate to this effect and the same is required to be submitted to authorities issuing birth certificate.
