well yeah, i'm quite religious and so are my parents, it's a little worrying for them that i might lose my beliefs even if i try to reassure them but bcoz i'm quite young they dont wanna take much chances. they said if i had some good muslim friends there, they wudnt mind as much, i guess...
who knows, just trying my luck till the end

Rather ignorant belief. You do not lose your religion because you make friends with people who do not share your religion or your level of conviction. Non muslims or less religious muslims would make good friends too.
