WHat does an American, who is not of retirement age, need in order to become a resident of Ecuador?
DOes anyone have a general list of what is necessary?
We lived in Granada, Nicaragua for a while, but becoming a resident was horrid and lengthy process. The government is not stable. But, when you arrive in Nicaragua, you are allowed to stay three months - if you wish to remain longer, you go to the border and pay the guards $20 and your time is extended. Legally, you are to leave the country for three days - and many do this with a short trip into Costa RIca. Then return for another three months.
How different is Ecuador? Can Americans live there - send their kids to school - and NOT become a resident?
Thanks
