We want to visit Florence for 2-3 days is it a good idea to stay outside the city close to a tram or train line to visit as we have a car rather than try and get something in the city as I know parking is difficult

@Stuartveronica Parking in Centro is available but it is not cheap. It will cost about 40 euros a day. You may be better off getting a place outside of the ZTL and bus or tram in every day. You can even walk from many places outside the ZTL as it is only a 20-minute walk from most areas just outside the historic center.
Thanks James
that sounds like good advice, can you suggest an area thats close to a good tram route to the city centre that way we can start to look for some sort of accommodation that might have parking. really appreciate you help.

@Stuartveronica
definitely a good idea ! Have a look at the map of Florence,where the rather new Tramvia arrives (T1 T2 lines) and try to find a place along the lines. Ticket costs 1.70 euro per 60 min. and there are trains every 5 minutes from 500 to 2300 but have a look here
