Hi, i'm moving to Budapest in a few weeks to setup a new global function for my employer and am very much looking forward to it. i've visited a few times over recent weeks and have seen an apartment in District V close to the Parliament which i hope to rent. I have a couple of questions and would be appreciate any advice;
- I love my sports but the apartment doesn't have a satellite dish. I've heard of some services (i think they call it slingbox) that a few UK companies provide that allow you to stream TV channels (including SKY Sports)over the internet? Does anyone have any knowledge of this? What is the best internet company and what's the fasted broadband speed i'm likely to be able to get?
- Can anyone recommend a good gym in District V?
- Are there any social events planned from early November that i can invite myself along too?

Sports Bar in Dohany Utca near the Synagogue ..Also at the Sports Bar every Friday evening at about 5-30 until 9 'The Club' meets ...You can check it on Face Book...
Many expats meet and from there I am sure you can learn of many social events...
Budapest is filled with cultural and other events...but this could be a good beginning.
You might check Stuart McAllister on Face book he is a young Scottish businessman married to a sweet Hungarian lady...He is a great source of information..His company specialises in 're-location ' services..but just as a sorce of info he would be good...
Also Gary Lukasch ( he is an American ) also on Facebook..and both are members of The Club.
One of the best bars here is the Szimpla Kert..You can Google it.A great place .It is a big open space constructed from a derelict building site ..Great atmosphere and lots of events take place there ...
I am a retired chap who worked in the movies for a long time..This city is the Hollywood of Europe..so they say...They have just finished the latest Die Hard with Bruce Willis..Budapest doubled as Moscow..
There is a very good magazine 'Time Out - Budapest'...A`great source of everything from undergorund and obscure clubs and events to the best places to eat and drink and to socialise..

Budapest has so much to do for the tourists and locals it is difficult to single out any one special area. Naturally, what to see depends on how much time you have here. If only a short time – say, a couple of days – I recommend one of the Hop On – Hop Off bus tours around town. You'll see all the main sights and can either stay on the bus as it passes interesting places, or get off and walk around awhile, snapping pictures to your heart's content.
If you are in Buda, go to Hegyvidék Központ and eat macarons Its a really nice place, where you can shopping as well. Have a nice day
