Can Americans get work in Australia

Hello,

The economy seems to be better in Australia.  Is it easy for Americans to get work in Australia?  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and over 10 years accounting experience.

However I would be willing to make a career change and work in the mines or something.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome on board  Mike Wei !

Maybe you could try posting an advert in the Australia jobs section.
It might help!

Good luck

Of course you an find work very easy over here in australia,, does not matter what country ur from.. lots of americans over here working

What city would you recommend?  Is Canberra better than Sydney?  Also what jobs are hiring the most now?

Try looking at jobs.com.au or seek.com.au to see what kind of jobs are out there. Unless you have some other plan, you will probably need to get an employer to sponsor you for your visa, so it might be worth contacting some of the companies with open listings to see if they can do that. Where you'd like to live depends on what you want out of the city, I guess. I really like Melbourne, but I don't have much else to compare it to, yet.

Hi Mike,

In order to work as a accountant in Australia you'll need to "revalidate" your professional occupation with one of this three Bodies:

- CPA
- ICAA or
- IPA

You must have an assessment from one of them before to apply for an skilled VISA. If your assessment is positive, you will be able to continue in the process.

Check those websites to get further information about the assessment.

In addition, after arrived to Australia, you need to apply for a Licence as a Accountant (same body if you want).

Have a look here to know the migration rules:
