What an adventure! I hope you were able to meet a few new people while in Auckland. I also hope you were able to find a job. Are you in New Zealand as part of a visitors visa or a backpackers visa?

Hostels are a great place to start because most of the time you can work for room and board. There is a good start until you can find something else.
