Seeking some advise on job security

Hi Everyone,

I am Manisha Shrestha and currently I am planning to take Post Graduate Diploma Course in Education in New Zealand (Unitec Institute of Technology, Auckland). Regarding this matter, I am seeking your feedback. Hope you will help me by sharing your experiences with us.

Actually, I worked as a Lecturer for couple of years in Kathmandu and then I joined a project as a Communications Specialist. However, I always wanted to be a teacher and my husband has really been supportive about it. So now, he has convinced me to join the course and he will be accompanying me as a dependent too. We are now in the process of applying for the visa.

But it has been couple of days that I have been battling with my thoughts. I am really worried about our job security. Can you please tell us how the situation is in New Zealand? Your first-hand experiences can be really helpful for us in this situation.

As a student, of course, I am allowed to work only 20 hrs...but i hope I'll get a part time job (what do you all think?) but as dependent, what is the scope for my husband? As a matter fact, he is well-educated ( Masters in management from USA) and he has been working as a principal here too. What does your experinces and current scenario in New Zealand say about it? Please do share.

Looking forward for you response.

Regards,
Manisha

Thanks, Aurélie for your response.

But I also hope I'll find someone to share their first-hand experiences (probably a Nepali too).

Manisha
