Mobile phone advice

Hi

I just got a pre-paid phone and have no problem calling local numbers but international calls will not connect.

Does anyone know why or what I would need to do?

If it helps, the phone is on Vivo!

Thanks for your help.

Tom

Re: Mobile phone advice

Hi Tom,

Unless I miss my guess, most pre-pay cell phone chips come standard with DDI (international calls) blocked. You should be able to resolve this by calling Vivo customer service at *8486 from your cell phone or  either 1058 or 106-21(not sure which works where you are) from any other phone and request unblocking of DDI services. Have you had the same problem with national long distance calls (DDD) as well? If so, this is most likely the case and calling Vivo will resolve everything.

Cheers,

Re: Mobile phone advice

Hi again Tom,

If your phone SIM chip is not blocked for DDI then make sure you are dialing correctly.

For DDI (international) calls

00 + (xx) + (country code) + (DDD area code) + (phone number) xx being the long distance operator you choose 21 Embratel, 15 Telefonica, 31 Telmar, etc.

So for example if you are calling Vancouver Canada you would dial:

00-21-1-604-555-1212

For DDD (national)calls

0 + (xx) + (DDD area code) + (phone number) xx being the long distance operator you choose 21 Embratel, 15 Telefonica, 31 Telmar, etc.

So if for example you are calling Belo Horizonte MG dail:

0-21-31-5555-1212
