:: Study and work in Germany

Hi folks,

Just a quick query.

I am coming to Germany to study my masters program in Oct, 2012.
As I already spent couple of years in UK, so I wonder about the studying and working criteria in Germany.

Is it similar to the UK , like you can work 20 hrs / week during the study time. What in case of Germany for international students?
How many hours a student could work?

Further what are the prospects of getting the residence permit, after completing the Master's program in Germany.

Appreciate for the right guidance and information.

Cheers !

OMER

Re: :: Study and work in Germany

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Well, yes I will be arriving for study , but my degree will be taught in English.

The PDF link you just shared is in German, any possibility for the link in English. That would be easier to read their specs for the working and studying criteria in Germany

Thanks

Omer

Re: :: Study and work in Germany

ask virtual advisor Dany in english
here are some software compiled information:

Many students earn a little extra pocket-money with student jobs at their university. However, there are strict rules in Germany regarding employment of foreign students. It will not be possible to finance your studies by working. For non EU nationals a rule of maximum 90 days / 180 half days employment per year applies, though student secondary/assistant jobs at universities or scientific or research institutions are possible without time limits.

It's always helpful to earn a little extra money while studying and student jobs are available at most universities. But remember, your main focus should be your studies! Also, a rule of maximum 90 days / 180 half days per year applies for non EU nationals, though student secondary/assistant jobs at universities or scientific or research institutions are possible without time limits.
