Re: costs in london

Hi mira_loo,  I hope that your stay in London goes well.  Here is an idea that popped into my mind when I read your post.  Google the London underground map (one that shows the zones) and generally, it is cheaper to live in zones 4-6 if you want to stay in London.  Hope that that helps.

Re: costs in london

hi Michele. welcome to expat blog smile

Britisher is right, London is generally split up into zones 1 to 6, zone 6 being the cheapest to live in. zones 1 and 2 are usually the most expensive. also, if you decide to live outside of London, rent will definitely be cheaper.

Re: costs in london

Thank you so much for your answers...ya..I am looking for something really cheap because I don't have money for now.The thing is that I haven't found yet a job so I don't know if from zones 4-6 I have the bus or train to get where I need to be at work.I would look for something nearby.
Beside London, where is cheaper to live but where I also have the possibility to find a job?
Thank you all!

Re: costs in london

well, if you live in London and work in London, commuting is not really a problem. public transport is pretty good. but can be expensive. specially commuting to central London.
however, you could consider other cities, for e.g. Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester. cost of living will be cheaper but the job market might differ from London.
could you tell us what sort of job you are looking for?

Re: costs in london

Thank you so much for the information.Well...I have a diploma in foreign languages(english, french), I studied communication and public relations at the university,I graduated,  I have a diploma in german(I mean I had classes for 1 month.I would like to find a job as a manager or a stage in communications, public relations but I know it is hard to find. For now I would be grateful to find a job in a hotel or something, as waiter or receptionst...I don't know...I speak italian almost as my mother tongue, 'cause I'm romanian...:)Maybe I could find something where they can provide me a room to stay and food:),so I have nothing to pay.

Re: costs in london

then i would suggest you work at it from a job point of view, as in, begin with finding a job in England. because it seems you are not particularly fussed about living in London. So, search jobs first, look at the requirements, qualifications needed and the perks of the job and you can then narrow down depending on location.
