Raising kids in Lebanon

My husband is Lebanese and I'm American. He's a very Americanized Lebanese person, grew up listening to Ziad Rahbani and American pop. And I guess I'm somewhat Arabized by now: I speak Lebanese, know how to dabke, and am a practicing Muslim (although of course you don't have to be Muslim to be Arabized). I'm also very American, in an alternative American kind of way. I'm a bit of a health fanatic, a strict vegetarian for ethical reasons, a political activist. We have a young child who speaks Arabic better than English even though we live in the American suburbs.

Our life in the US is good, but we both pine for Lebanon. I worry, though, that in Lebanon I will regret taking our daughter away from the comforts of our US life, which include access to nature in our backyard and plenty of space to run, relative safety, financial security (which we can have to some degree in Lebanon, but not the same as here). I also don't know how I would be able to integrate into the culture there, and if I would like it.  I would like to talk with others of similar circumstances who have gone through with the move, or not, and how it's been.

Looking forward to hearing from others!
