Hoping to move to Philippines

Hello everyone. For several years I worked in a nearby nation. I have since returned to US and have regretted it. Thus, I am anxious to relocate to the Philippines for a number of personal reasons. I am a professional (lawyer) but don't expect to be able to practice there. I've applied from the US for various MNCs, but no response. Any "on the ground" suggestions for trying to land a decent position there?

Re: Hoping to move to Philippines

Check out my blog on retiring in the Philippines it contains all the info you need to make the move retiringphilippines.org But most Americans that move here do not get jobs, instead they create businesses. I cover that topic on my site. Most jobs here are reserved for Filipinos. However I have known some Americans teaching in the universities. I suggest you look in that direction. Otherwise a nice restaurant or internet cafe with additional services like desktop publishing, Photos and more, as it cannot stand on it own. Also I have a personal friend who is an attorney and visits the philippines every year for medical missions work he many offer more suggestions, James Joseph on Facebook (not his real name for obvious reasons) cool

Re: Hoping to move to Philippines

It depends on what kind of work would you like to do and also your skills. Maybe you can try working as a consultant? I think that is quite related to your career (professional lawyer). when are you going to relocate to the philippines?

Re: Hoping to move to Philippines

Thanks for the input. I am refocusing more on the consulting side of business, with a particular interest on import/export and some trading/cross border business issues. There is a lot going on these with ASEAN. My plans are to go in a couple of weeks.
