Gringo inflation - keeping prices low

I found the 1st blog very interesting about not paying "gringo" prices just because they seem cheap to us. I've read that's leading to increasing prices in Cuenca as it's happened in other places where expats have been priced out of the market. Not to mention locals who can't afford the increased prices. Someone rented a newer 4 br, 3 ba house with yard & security for $250 a month, while another is paying $400 for a newer 3 br, 2.5 ba house. Price depends on location, but the second person may be overpaying even though they think they got a terrific deal. So find out what the locals pay and if you're being charged more, walk away. If it's done often enough, the prices will go down, or at least not go up as much. The 2nd website I found very helpful in terms of comparing the cost of living in any 2 cities or countries. There are also a lot of great videos about Cuenca on YouTube. Posting in case someone else besides me may find this useful, and I know all of us want to keep prices as low as possible!
