Organize your move to Angola

Hi all,

we invite you to share your experience about moving to Angola.

Here is a list of questions which might help the ones preparing their move to Angola:

What would you bring and what would you leave behind?

Is it a good idea to bring furniture or domestic appliances?

Any foodstuffs that are banned in Angola?

Is it better to bring a car or to buy one once settled in Angola?

Any advice for the ones who are moving to Angola?

Thank you in advance for your participation :)

There are already allot of info about the general questions, but my advice is do not import a car, they have very spesific laws now which states only left hand drives cars can be imported no older than 3 years at the date of importation, so its much easier to purchase once there, ask around from companies and embassies that want to sell cars, there are always cars for sale by other expats leaving Angola on a regular basis.

don't bring furniture and domestic appliances, get a furnished home/apartment with all these items included.

No foodstuffs are banned, but you might at times have problems bringing in some meat if they want to be funny, these days many shops are starting to sell more and more products from overseas(different countries), mainly Portugal and Brasil, but you will find many regular things that you need, you will just have to shop around a bit.

Don't buy meat that is semi defrosted, can be dangerous for your health. Many shops sell excellent quality meats from Portugal and Brasil, look on the labels to see country of export before buying and by frozen as far as possible.

Many other questions are already answered in the forums about life in general in Angola
