Just arrived in Melbourne a week ago..Was wondering if there is a society or activities organised to mingle and make new friends here.

Hi! I'm Malaysian and new to Melbourne too, arrived here on the 18th. If I may suggest, there is a website called meetup.com which I am quite fond of and used while I was living in Auckland. There is a Malaysians in Melbourne group there and they basically organise meetups and you can RSVP to attend and meet new people. I haven't joined that group yet but I will once I'm more settled in. They also have plenty of other groups on the meetup site that are interesting to join.
