Social Charges for UK Early Retirees

Anyone in Malta as an early retiree with a UK government pension (not old age pension) please tell me if you have to pay social charges whilst resident in Malta.

No social charges to pay but if you are "economically self sufficient" for your EID you will need private health care and proof of sufficient income.

Terry

So if economically self sufficient you don't benefit from the UK/Malta reciprocal healthcare ?

You do Bobby - you need to apply for this before applying for your eid

I'm confused now. Do I need private healthcare ? Do I get healthcare through the agreement ? Do I pay social charges ?

Not if he is below retirement age and not working in Malta

Terry

Thanks everybody, I'll call with the health dept when I'm there in November and give them my personal circumstances.
