Making phone calls in the Cook Islands

Hi,

When settling in the Cook Islands, one of the priorities is to be able to make phone calls.

How to proceed to get a landline installed in the Cook Islands?

What are the mobile operators?

What is your average monthly budget?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience,

Maximilien

There is only one provider of landline and mobile telephone, Internet, and cable. It is called blue sky. Their main location is downtown. You will need to go there and get everything set up.

I was just there today setting up a landline and Internet for a house I moved into. Set up will cost about $100 for each - telephone and Internet.  Add another $90 for a modem, another $250 for a bond, another $50 for a phone.  It takes about a week for them to come out and install it.  While you are there, it may take a while to get seen and processed – give yourself a couple hours.

A landline is only $12 per month, and the calls are $.15 for 10 minutes. Cheap.  Mobile is very expensive.  $.38 per minute. The data is very expensive. Prepare on spending $100 a month for Internet data on mobile  in addition to your mobile phone costs.  For Internet costs in your house, prepared to spend about $90 a month or $140 a month if you use it a lot!
