Moving to Lombok.

Hello All,

I am looking to  ove to Lombok, in the near future, the move is for retirement and I have a Indonesian Partner.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the move in general, medical insurance, Visa requirements... etc.

cheers in advance

Vin

Start with the basics.
If your partner is your legally married female wife, you can get a KITAS year long immigration document , easily renewable for the following year, then move on to a KITAP long term document.
A retirement visa is also possible, but the wife sponsored KITAS is probably easier.

Lots of medical insurance to be had, but buy local. The expat insurance policies tend to cost a lot more.
Some of the larger big name western firms don't offer plans, just ask you how much you want to pay.
This disgusting rip off method should receive the reply it deserves.

If you are at least age 55 you qualify for a retirement visa...good for five years...

Vin, as for medical insurance, you can Google for that, and also post your questions here:

While Fred's opinion is to use local companies, and with all due respect to his opinion, he lives in Jakarta where there are plenty of high quality medical care providers.  If living in Lombok, I personally would be more inclined to have an expat medical package which will include that all important benefit…emergency medical evacuation.

The trick to keeping the premiums for expat medical insurance policies at a manageable level is to take a policy with a high annual out of pocket deductible…an amount you can afford without breaking the bank.  Think of the coverage as catastrophic coverage…the kind of medical issues that would break the bank.
