Health insurance at reasonable price in Budapest

Hello!

Could you, please, recommend any insurance company in Budapest (emails or web-sites) to purchase medical insurance at reasonable price?

Thank you!

If you just want a paper saying you have insurance for legal reasons or whatever, Generalli has a student health coverage that is about the lowest we found.
It really didn't cover a thing but was good enough for legal reasons to say one had coverage. 5 Years ago it was about $250. for a year, again, didn't cover a thing really, maybe a band -aid if that.
For real coverage,I'll let someone else give you advice.

Marilyn, thank you for your response!

I will see Generalli for the beginning.

Hope it works out for you. They have an office on the Large Blvd, near the Westend station area I think, sorry they moved since I was in there, used to be in the 8th district but now it is the 6th.

Yes if anyone has advice for reasonable price health insurance please email or pm me.

We need that {It really didn't cover a thing but was good enough for legal reasons to say one had coverage. 5 Years ago it was about $250. for a year, again,} so we need that {just want a paper saying you have insurance for legal reasons }. My father has some pre existing conditions but we can either pay out of pocket of deal with that later we just need something to cover for the residence permit.

The only co. we ever dealt with in HU was Generalli.
My husband as a citizen was covered straight away in Hu but had to wait one full year before being able to use his restarted health care in HU for anything other then an emergency.
As a non HU citizen I really can not give you much advice on health care in which you must actually be allowed to see a doctor.

A private doctor will probably see your father but I have no clue as to their charges.
For any emergency you will be treated in HU but if you can not repay them they will go after assets.
You will not be turned away in an emergency in HU but once your stable your on your own as far a finding a doctor if not enrolled in their national health plan.
I am not 100% sure if non HU citizens and their family members are even allowed to enroll in the HU health system, in any case it takes a year of being a HU resident before you can enroll in the plan.
You must have coverage one way or the other in a private sort of plan to get a resident permit to stay.
I do not think just being able to say you can pay out of pocket is enough for immigration services. They want an actual plan in place to cover you so that the Gov. will not have to pay in an emergency.
They are just covering themselves in case you do not have the funds for care and they get stuck with the bill.
Even showing a large bank account is not enough, you will probably have to find a health plan better then the basic Generalli coverage since your dad probably can't wait a year for care.

Good luck, complicated issue.

Oh yes i meant cheap healthcare plan! Yes we want something saying we are covered. No big bank accounts here! he hee

I hope another poster can answer this for you. I do not know of any chep coverage that has any real coverage included in the policy.
I know wealthy Hungarians have another "national health coverage" plan that costs them around $1,000 a month. We read about it online in a HU site.( Not sure what it is called, the Platinum Plan maybe?)
They of course get to see the best doctors without waiting and have private rooms etc. All the  "big wigs" and large business owners have this plan, they are not about to wait for months to see a specialist like the rest of us Smucks have to do.
Hungary has a class system in place which really is not talked about too much.

1,000 USD a month? Jeez that is beyond expensive. No we would not be able to forward that nor would i devote that much to just healthcare. My father has had tons of health care this past year, so a basic plan to start with be ok as even if we stayed here he does not have any screenings until late July anyway. And me i have nothing wrong with me that i know of at least! he hee.

Yes anyone that knows of anything let me or the original poster know. That company you mentioned i will look at it, thanks

I know, my husband read about how the "wealthy" Hungarians are treated compared to the rest of us "low life's".
Darn, if I could afford $1,000 a month for health care I don't even need, I would not being living in Hungary in the first place!

I for one would not pay $1000 a month for any type of Hungarian health care.

When I broke my hand in Hungary, for which I required surgery and metal pin in the bone, I went abroad for the surgery. I have two MDs in my extended Hungarian family, and even they applauded my decision.

Hungarian medical health care is not really that great in my humble opinion (IMHO). Cheap, for sure. But you get what you pay for.

Dentists are different. They are actually very, very good in Hungary.

I also would never pay $1,000  a month for any sort of coverage, at those rates, I would have to live in the Dr.s office to justify the expense.
Went most of my life with no coverage at all as a self employed person in the US. Our family motto was,"No one get sick or hurt", It worked for decades.
At at 60 ( almost 61) I have only had one needed surgery and I was only 40 at the time. I am lucky to not take any meds for anything and my only issues are dental.( All issues from chewing ice when I was ill at age 40, had a craving for crushed ice, never chew ice!)
I have had several different dentists in Hungary since 2000.
Some were good, some just Ok and a couple were horrible.
I just finished up a long one year treatment at the dental school  in Budapest for a cracked tooth.
During that time I had some fillings done and needed oral surgery to put in a pin to support my new bridge. Had the best treatment ever from the school, slow going but all done by the book with care.
Very sorry I had knee surgery 2 years ago in HU for minor arthritis, was worst afterwards, needed to come home to the US and have PT for months. If I didn't have coverage in HU I never would of undergone the knee surgery, was sort of talked into it. Never again.
