Volunteering in Greece

Hi,

While living abroad, some expats wish to get involved in the local community life.

What organizations expats can turn to if they want to volunteer in Greece?

How to join a charitable institution, what are the steps?

Which causes have the greatest need for volunteers in Greece?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience and advice,

Maximilien

Every island has it's own charity groups working in different areas. There's ones with animal, cats and dogs or donkeys and ones with orphans or refugees.

At the moment in the Dodecanese the greatest need is to help the refugee charities. Here are a couple of them:

facebook.com/helpinghandsofrhodes?fref=ts
facebook.com/solidaritysymi?fref=ts

These 2 are on Symi and Rhodes, there are others in Kos etc if you contact Helping Hands they will give you the details of the others.

thanks

We can always use help feeding and trapping cats that need to go to the vet.  You can find more information at - ninelivesgreece.com.  We are located in Athens.
