Want to know about Brazil

Want to know more about Brazil n how I can showcase Brazil for my schools exhibition

You can do two different things. First you can Google "Brazil" or "Brazilian culture" and use all kinds of information you'll find online.

Also you can read the topic thread "A Gringo's Survival Guide to Brazil", which you'll find at the top of the Brazil Forum page, it's packed with information too.

Hi James
First of all thanks for your prompt reply....I have gone through plenty of stuff online...theoretically I would get a lot of info....here I need help in displaying models n art in class n not just 2D charts with written info.....like I will give you one example....I m planning to make Christ of redeemer...in the centre of my class room ...yes I have found one video on YouTube for that...similarly I want to know what else I can make n display in form of models who truly showcase n represent Brazil....

Well if you're looking for some truly Brazilian artifacts to show for your class you might make a replica of a berimbau (bi-rim-bãu) which is a stringed musical instrument used by people who practice the traditional Brazilian martial art / dance called Capoeira.

It consists of a bowed rod or bamboo, with a length of approximately 1.50 meters to 1.70 meters and a steel wire (wire) attached on the stick's ends. Near its base, there is a hollowed out dry gourd (Lagenaria siceraria) or a Koyté (of Crescentia cujete plant) tied to the rod. The bottom of the gourd is cut off and it acts as a sounding board. The berimbau player uses the left hand to support the set and practices a movement back and forth from his abdomen, using a stone or coin (doubloon), to press the wire. The right hand with a stick, then hits the rope. It is also used Caxixi, which is a small rattle stuck to the fingers of the player. (see photo)

You may want to show your class a Youtube video about how it is played too. You can find it at:

This video shows how to make one from bamboo:

I really think that would be extremely interesting to your fellow students. Maybe even a video of a Capoeira group would be fun too. There are lots of them on Youtube as well, but this is the very best known of all time.
