Hi oclida,

Of course not !

The Offer Letter is a preliminary document shared by the employer which clearly states the employee's duties, roles and responsibilities, including salary and all other package details.

The employee is supposed to read through what has been stated carefully and sign the document, if it is agreeable. Else, the employee has to revert to the company and ask for the amendments to be made, if any.

Once the document is signed, then it means that the employer is willing to hire the employee for doing the services clearly outlined and for the amount specified, along with the other terms and conditions of the contract which is mentioned in the offer letter.

Basis the offer letter, a formal employment contract would then be drafted, formalising the contract between the employer and the employee.

Answering your query, no, the employer cannot and should not alter or amend any details stated in the offer letter once the document is signed by the employee. That would amount to forgery.
