Yes - go to the Nandos just outside Chinatown.
Don't go in, just go to the steamboat stand next to the hotel's car park.
Hang, talk to the locals, have fun.

Forgot to mention - it's an evening thing.
The little restaurant it's outside is pretty good as well.
One of the more outstanding locals you're likely to meet (If he's still hanging there after many years) is known as "Man". He knows the city and all the places worth knocking about in, but he'll cost you a few drinks.

Too many nice food in our country. You can try to go to the "pasar malam" (night market) at Taman Connaught on Wednesdays. Crowded, but I love the food there.
