I'm currently in the process of Initial Teacher Training in the UK and so I'm considering my career prospects. From what I've heard there is a lot of competition for TEFL in Russia and that it doesn't pay that well, but that teaching in International schools can be very lucrative, and this is where my interest lies, especially since I'm currently learning Russian.
How well do international schools pay? What sort of bonuses and benefits do they provide? Is their medical insurance and or housing allowances? A housing allowance seems particularly important considering a month's rent in St Petersburg can cost up to £700 and in Moscow you can double that figure.
Also how does the salary and tax compare to the cost of living in either cities? Can you save a lot if you're careful with your money?
