Advice for travelling in Moscow as a tourist please!

Hello.... I am Scottish but living in England for many years and I am visiting Moscow for 1night on 1st Sept.  and the full day and evening on Wednesday 2nd September then I travel to Georgia Tblisi for 2days for an International match before returning to Moscow on 5th September for my flight back to the UK..... I only have a short time in Moscow therefore can you please advise me (as I am travelling on my own)
any tips on my safety in Central Moscow during the day and also in the evening.
I am looking forward to seeing the Kremlin, Red Square St Basil Cathedral and possibilly the famous Moscow metro stations..... I am a keen photographer but due to several reports of muggings it is best for me just to take a pocket camera?.... I watched a BBC programme last night regarding the upsurge in Russian Nationalism and at the moment the documentary mentioned that there is a rise in anti-Western feeling with a few groups 'looking' for foreigners.  I am a little apprehensive and would appreciate your comments as unfortunately when I was travelling on my own I was attacked in Brussels 2 years ago and ended up in hospital.... but I dont want to stop travelling as there are many good helpful friendly people in all Nations in the World.... Oh I am staying in Central Moscow about 500 metres from Red Square... should I try to get a local person to show me around etc for safety?
All replies suggestions are most welcome and greatly appreciated.... JIMMY

Hi! 2 years ago I lived in London. There  many friendly people helped me. Now, welcome to Moscow! We have common interests, walking and cinema. I'm happy to be your guide in the  tourist places and not traditional tourist places in Moscow with beautiful foto and video. In addition, I can help in the study of the Russian language. We can communicate, and we can be friends.

Hi Lara....thank you very much for your message. I am very humbled by your very kind offer to help me in Moscow. You are very kind and I am honoured to have your company. Now I am really looking forward  to my visit and it is sad that I do not have more time in Moscow.
You certainly seem to be a very nice person and I hope that  you enjoyed your stay in the UK.
How long did you stay in London and I hope that you dont mind me asking 'what is your type of employment?'.... I am guessing.... perhaps office management or language translator or something similar?
You look very intelligent from your photograph and I am pleased that we have common interests although while I enjoy photography I am not very  professional but sometimes I capture some really good shots.
At present I am waiting for my Russian visa and I hope my application will be accepted.
In the meantime I sincerely hope that you have a good day/week and thanks once again.
Jimmy.....ps I am really sorry I dont speak Russian

:)Hi, Jimmy! I'm glad our friendship. You do not have to regret that you did not know the Russian language. I'll try to help you learn the Russian language for  communicate.
London has become my second favorite city after Moscow. Very good people :) - they are very friendly and they can understand any people. I'll try you like Moscow too.
