Can anyone advise me on how to make this journey? I can't seem to find a rail service.

I believe there is a rail way from Bucharest to Gorna Oryahovitsa which is around -10 km from Veliko Tarnovo - Probably the easiest by rail.

Hi Alexali,
Thanks for that - you're absolutely right. It seems (to me at least) easier to book rail tickets from Sofia as the Bulgarian rail online service is much easier to navigate than its Romanian counterpart. Pity Sofia is so much further than Bucharest! Thanks again.

If it is easier, you can always catch a bus or taxi from Bucharest to Ruse (just over the Bulgarian border) and then get onto a train to go to VT. That way, you can book your train tickets online, if you like. The train to GO and then a train to VT is also, as mentioned, an option, but the hours are not always the best.
