Maltese citizenship

Dear All,

Does anybody know how easy/hard it is to obtain Maltese citizenship by naturalisation?

(I'm not talking about the new economic citizenship).

In theory one should be eligible for citizenship after 5 years (provided that one knows the language, history, etc of course).

But is it possible in practice?

All the best,

GG

almost impossible

i have been trying to think if the best way to answer this and well i think you found it lol

to put it bluntly, why would Malta give you citizenship for free when its selling citizenship for € 1,000,000 ?

Not being funny....if you're not or your family is not Maltese why would you want it or need it.?

Just interested as to the reasons why?

BTW i agree with the previous posters replies too

Thank you all for commenting. This confirms the info I've found elsewhere: Over the last decade only around 300 individuals of non-Maltese descend that are not married to a Maltese citizen have obtained citizenship.

I wonder if any of you know what did the trick in some of the 300 notable exceptions?

Maybe some of the "lucky ones" have even been mentioned in the media?

Just curious! :-)

Kind regards,

GG

some might have been born in Malta, which doesnt give automatic citizenship, but might help

non-Maltese children adopted by Maltese can obtain citizenship

It helps if you marry a Minister ...

knowing someone influential is always a bonus....
someone who can pull strings for you

for a small fee even....

Thanks guys!

It sounds like I'll have to look for a Maltese family to adopt me!

;););)
