Looking to long term rental in Paphos - is that feasible?

Hi we are looking to sell up here in Southampton and move over to Paphos permanently in September. We would ideally look to rent long term. Is this feasible? Can you rent on a long term basis, if so what sort of rent would it be, i.e. 3 bedrooms with pool ideally. Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards Colin

yes of course its possible to rent long term... just got to find the right property for your needs and requirements

Pools are allways available - either communal or private  - if communal then that is cheapest option ....but you can get a a villa here with private pool for as little as 450-500 per month - but for a three decent size bedroomed villa expect to pay 600-750  then you have to remember there are maintenance costs on top for the pool - water replenishment electric consumption for fiters and pumps, chemicals for keeping it clean and  bacteria free.. you can do the maintenance yourself or get someone else to do it - there are guys who do it for abut €50 per month

Hi, thanks for your help. The only problem I have to sort now is health insurance, UK companies want a fortune, had a minor heart attack 2 years ago, not a problem since, what do ex pats pay and is there a local company in cyprus cheaper. Would be grateful for assistance.

Colin

we are 58/57 and had to have Private Healthcare sorted to apply for the yellow slip... Alien Regstration Certificate - we got a lot of quotes with a wide ranges of costs and covers and as a result of the assessment / comparison decided to use Abbeygate in Paphos.... we took the IMG Bronze cover - it cost €615 each  - no medical required - it was a painless and very informative service and as a result took out our car and house contents insurance with them too all well priced.....

I will say though here in terms of the ambulance service its more of a glorified taxi with no paramedics on board so be aware of that - however two British paramedics have started a private ambulance service (Phoenix) here and subs start at €20 to €40 per month..... we were quoted €40 due to our ages and covers both of us and any visitors/family in our household - we also asked about the PHC cover we had to cover this ambulance service and the cover is €1000 per event  - which would be ok in normal emergency circumstances.....and the good thing is we could call the private ambulance service within the scope of the policy - so its happy days for us

Also be aware that because of the naming of streets etc and no such thing as a accurate street postcode and many residents cant pronounce the street names too well and most of the government ambulance services dont always speak english it can take over an hour for an ambulance to find you and more often than not you may be asked to meet the ambulance at a certain place ...also the private ambulance service above if you opt for that come to your home and log the directions direct to your door so no delays are possible ...handy i think

There is much cheaper option for healthcare cover which will satisfy the requirements of the immigration dept and its only about €175 per yr.

Hi, looking to move permanently to the Paphos area around September. We have decided not to buy at our age (63) but instead rent on a 3 to 5 year contract. Any ideas on what agencies to contact would be appreciated.

http://www.finehomescyprus.com/index.html      recommended they were ever so good when we moved over.

http://www.cyprushomes.com/  never used these

http://www.sunseakerscyprus.com/   nor these

and although this page is primarily for holiday homes she (Fiona) often does long lets...
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cyprus-H … 7977187885     have used her and she has been fab  - and its one of her properties we are now in....

Thanks, much appreciated.

Here are a few more Paphos agencies that do long term rentals:

smartrentzcyprus.com

123-asap.com

mrrent-paphos.net

Friends have rental agreements for 2 years, 3 years and even 5 years - depends on the landlord. Others sign a lease for one year with an opt out clause after 6 months in case it doesn't work out.

Would suggest a short term rental agreement to start with to give you a chance to find out a suitable location if you don't know the areas very well.
