how does the healthcare system work in the Turks and Caicos Islands ? Is it efficient ?

What are the main differences between public and private sectors?

Is it recommended to purchase private health insurance in the Turks and Caicos Islands?

If you are employed here 3% of your pay is collected for National Health Insurance Program.  That is supposed to entitle you to medical care.  In case of an emergency necessitating transport to more advanced medical care then you will most likely be sent to Jamaica, Panama or Nassau in the Bahamas.  Anywhere else would require either you paying or other insurance.

We have a hospital here than can handle many things but I am not overly impressed with the quality of care so I would recommend private insurance.
