Accident damaged vehicles

Hi,
In most cases, it is sold in auctions -
obviously car in Mauritius are insured - it is compulsory -
if your car is insured, you will get the market value if it is total loss - the accident car like I mentioned above will be sold - mostly for spare parts - in auctions.

Well, first of all, it's the Insurance company that decides whether to refund the owner or repair the vehicle or declare total loss and give the owner a new vehicle.

In case of Total loss, the vehicle is examined by a valuation Officer and the approx scrap value of the damaged vehicle is known. Then the vehicle is sent for auctioning. eventually, either the vehicle gets a new owner or is sold as scrap for parts.

Otherwise, the insurance Company can consider selling the damaged vehicle as scrap or after necessary repairs by a local garage.

I am very fond of repairing such vehicle and collecting rare or rather OLD vehicles and restore them as antics..

Hello, try to search for auctioneer on google. You will also find ads in the local newspaper and on FB.

Normally every week (Wednesdays) auctions are held - you can visit the vehicles to be auctioned one day before, that is Tuesdays.

Some insurance companies also hire the services of other sworn auctioneers to effect the auction sale either at the insurer's location or some other usual location.
