Day trips to Budapest, Bratislava & Prague

Dear All,

Good day! I am planning a 2-week visit to the lovely Vienna this July, I am very keen to explore the surrounding countries as well and would love some more info on the following day trips I wish to take with my lovely wife:

1) Bratislava - preferably by way of the river so as to also enjoy a cruise down the danube

2) Prague

3) Budapest

I checked the forum and found the website for the buses (https://www.eurolines.at/en), which was most helpful tyvm whoever posted it as the offers I am getting on expedia are EXPENSIVE - $120 for Prague and Budapest, and $54 for Bratislava. Whereas the bus tickets are very manageable, in the range of EUR 33 return!

my question is, where can i find the train ticket website - as that would be more scenic and enjoyable i believe, and less likely to have traffic.

Also, any recommendations on what to see/where to go in Vienna itself?

Many thanks to all that read this, and special thanks to those that reply ;)

This is the Austrian train website - http://www.oebb.at/en/

and there is this site, which is very useful - http://seat61.com

The Vienna tourist website is - http://www.vienna.info/en

I think the train journey is about €20 return per person to Bratislava, and includes 10 minute bus journey into the town centre. Austrian railways also do a useful leaflet with train times, available at Hauptbahnhof/Main Station, or other large Viennese railway stations. Which bus to catch, and get off/on from. A tip for Vienna is to get day/3 day/ or 7 day travel cards for travelling round the city. Excellent transport systems! Underground-some go overground, busses, and the best form, the city trams, where you can admire the views and architecture. Obviously underground is quickest. The tram however can get you from Westbahnhof to Schönbrunn much nearer, the number 58 , which then involves a short walk to the main entrance. The underground is much further away. Have a great time and enjoy the capital of Austria! wienerlinien.at tourismuswien.info.at
