I believe my husband and I can bring $500 worth of merchandise into Costa Rica every 6 months. What household items would you would recommend bringing from the States.

Many suggest you bring good sheets and towels. Electronics, good knives, kitchen tools you can't live without. Electric tools and anything related to a hobby you are interested in.Specific spices are often hard to find, depending on where you live.
You can bring items in, any time, without declaring the $500, if the goods are for your own personal use.
Bring your meds. if taking any, vitamins or food supplements as they cannot be shipped by mail or courier.
You can transport them in large plastic containers or a cooler on wheels, and pay for the excess baggage.
