Welcome to the forum
You need to check up on what mining companies have offices there and approach them. Leighton Asia are there, and the Oyu Tolgoi project is ongoing.

Have you tried  Google search for, say, 'construction jobs Mongolia' or 'expat jobs Mongolia'and see what comes up.

A lovely country to work in, friendly people.

I have been living here for two and a half years, I have thrown the towel in after eighteen years of being married to a Mongolian, and I have bought my own apartment near the Zamiin Tsagdaa, and will move in tomorrow. I love living in Mongolia, and will only go back to the UK to visit family. My reason for moving here was the high cost of living in the UK and for my wife to be near her aged mother, and grandchildren, I first got the Idea on my first visit in 1999, how the place has changed since then!

Hello everyone :)

My name is Bernard, and im from Warsaw, Poland. Ive been born here, but have double nationality, Polish and American.
Im looking to move to mongolia for many reasons (you mat laugh at them ic you wish :) ), mainly escaping the modern world, spiritual journey and also my love of country life.

Im 19, and for the last 4 years of my life my dream is to move to mongolia because of the culture and scenery and happily this year i will be probably visiting for the first time.

Im most interested in the northern part of mongolia, Khovsgol, and i think i would love to live in a ger, but i have to see for myself first (and Yes, i know that the temperature drops to as low as -40 degrees), and take up the lifestyle of the locals, herding raindeer and giving my free time to my favorite hobby, woodcarving, and maybe start a small hotel and atraction buissnes.

Hope you all have a great day :)

Bernard

Hi Bernard,

Sounds you have very exotic choice. But why not. You are so young, traveling and meeting new people, learning from life, it is very priceless big life university. You can travel and same time you can teach English, Polish language and attend expats events, or volunteer jobs. We have many expats here in Mongolia. Year by year getting more. 2014 was some slow year for economically. But 2015 will be very active. It's with long history and huge land with very few population. Mongolian people very kind and welcoming. Young generations are more openminded, learning different languages. Older people trying to invest money for their education. You can find here many nice history and nature. At least you better to stay here for 1 year then you'll know what to do. Better to travel in countryside first, before living in city. Get make different friends. They will give you thousand ideas. 19 year is highly dreamily age. You can make it real. Try it. Welcome to my country of Sunny Mongolia!

G'day everyone :),

Daniel here from Australia, just moved here yesterday, big climate change from Bali and Australia haha but oh well. I have no idea how to friends here since I do not speak the language and I haven't found a lot of people that actually speaks english so its quite challenging, I will hopefully be studying the language soon :). Hoping to make friends!

i think you will come soon right

You should look up Bojangles an Ozzie run  bar on Narmi Zam road about 500 metres West of Peace Bridge on the road underneath it, Ian the owner will give you the lowdown on life in UB.

MONGOLIA
1 great people
2 a beautiful country.... mostly very cold with a long, long winter
3 a fascinating history, Genghis CHINGGIS KHAN is historically one of, if not the greatest leader
4 in need of foreign investment
5 stability, they need a Civil Service
6 Politicians need to sign and keep agreements with foreign investors and mining companies etc
7 Mongolia has 3 million people, about the same as Wales
8 Mongolia is landlocked, both Russia and China can exploit this weakness
9 It may be that the Mongolians preempted WWII in 1937 when fighting with her Russian allies against the Japanese
10 Mongolia is still an emerging nation but it must look at its` poor and encourage governments in Austrailia to invest further. Visas for Australian miners are far from easy.

Hi to all,
I just moved from China to Mongolia and will start working in around 2 weeks, as the Salon Director
with Decatto Hair at the Buddha Vista Mall. My first impression, just love it, not so stressful like  the last Cities I worked,
special the ones in India and China. But its really dry here, drinking a huge amount of water :-) But I like the weather and because its dry I am not so worried about the winter.  Looking forward to meet some people , as I like Art and Culture stuff. Best regards to all Chris

Hello there

I'm like a half-foreigner here in UB. I am 28 and originally come from Inner Mongolia. I've spent the last 6 years here in Mongolia, and i'm going to be stuck here for at least another 5-10 years, or maybe forever!

I am currently in a relationship with a local Mongolian girl, and I would say the relationship is 50~60% serious. But the problem is, i'm reaching almost 30 and I would think I should start taking marriage and my future very seriously. I sometimes question if I should spend the rest of my life with a Mongolian woman, considering I'm not that really fond of a lot of the Mongolian traditions, perspectives, ways of thinking and the trends they tend to follow... or in other words i'm starting to get a little tired with Mongolians.. sort of...

Anyway, my intention is to meet foreign friends here. Ladies from Russia, Korea, Kazakhstan or any other nation, I'd like to meet you all!!! Boys work too, but u have to be around my age, and not married!

I speak Mongolian, Chinese and English (not fluent though only 2 years of studying in the UK)

As an advocate for a Mongolian gentleman and his young family, I have long been interested in the country and its people and problems.  When I first met this gentleman here in the US in 2002, he was a young foreign student with papers problems who wound up having to return home and then not being allowed to come back to finish his schooling.  I helped him continue his schooling in Singapore, where he met his wife to be.  When they completed what schooling they could there, they returned to Mongolia, married each other and began to raise the wonderful young family they have today.  Finally after 13 long years, they were
able to get visas and they came here this summer and visited me for a family reunion, which was wonderful for us all.  They hope to be able to get visas for their children later this fall and try again to return to the US
to work and ultimately gain LPR status.  Our plan is for me to finally retire (I'm an 80-year young former
teacher in the school systems here in the US)and then help them homeschool their boys and teach them English (as I did with their Dad).  So International Advocacy is a big thing with me, though I'm not an attorney myself.  ***
