We are moving in a month from VA to PR. We will be renting a furnished apartment. As I get ready to leave (plus husband and 3 teen daughters) it is clear we will need to ship some stuff. UPS is expensive, PODs are too big and very expensive as well. Is USPS our only other option? Will our things make it and not disappear? We are shipping the car but not allowed to put anything in it, which is frustrating. Any tips are appreciated.

We used them and it went flawlessly at a reasonable cost.

Thanks dolt201, I am so glad to see that upack.com went well for you. We are in the process of moving to San Juan in January and after checking with other movers they are so very expensive.

Upack.com was amazing. I would definitely recommend. We moved to Old San Juan so the relo cube could not be brought here, but we found a great local mover if you need one.

I shipped 15 Rubbermaid tough totes, secured w/duct tape, and addressed with a sharpie... all my stuff made it here fine, and I'm still using the boxes for storage.

"Stuff" as in... adult stuff? I would put it in a suitcase (done that before) or USPS should be fine (done that too)

"adult stuff"? I'm not sure what that means... I didn't ship a porn collection... I meant; personal items, that I didn't want to carry on the plane, as I had a 18 1/2lb dog to carry on as well as my two bags of luggage. I shipped tools here, clothing, computer, books, momentos, military gear, etc.

Hi! I shipped our entire house USPS flat rate! We sold all of our furniture and "big" items prior to and honestly it was the best choice. I shipped anything and everything I could fit in a flat rate and it worked out great! We didn't lose a single package out of 42 and only 1 package arrived damaged. We also shipped linens and lightweight items in a box and slim items, such a canvas and wall decor, in TV boxes. We even shipped our flat screen TVs with NO PROBLEM! All work great! Overall the cost was approx $1,800. Totally worth it....especially for hubbys heavy tools! I do wish I had shipped more small appliances...they are more expensive to buy here and "decor" is pricey too. GOOD LUCK!
