Short Term Stay in Bucharest

My husband has an opportunity to work from Bucharest.  His HR department at his company told him if he stays in the country less than 5 months we would not have to pay taxes on income in Romania.

We are finding it difficult to find inexpensive housing for such a short amount of time.  (Right now it looks like we will stay for either 5 weeks or 4 months).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe you could try looking for a regular yearly rental, visit the place, and if you like it, offer to pay 6 months rent up front with the caveat that you'll leave after 5 months. The lump sum in advance and the fact the landlord would have a paid month to find a new tenant might be tempting enough for him/her to accept. Pretty much a win-win. Of course, make sure you have a legal contract in place and proof of payment. This would work out a lot cheaper than the regular pay-by-the-day short stay rentals, even with the extra month.

Great idea.  Thanks Maykal.
