Hello all,
We are a family of four moving from the Isle of Man to Malta and posted on here a few months to receive great help and chatted with other expats about their experiences.
Our move is now getting closer and after originally visiting Malta felt that the best place to live would be either Sliema, St Julian's, Swieqi, Kappara or Ibrag however, we really like the look and feel of Lija / Iklin area.
We are due to visit again in a couple of weeks but would really appreciate any feedback we can from other expats or locals who live around the Lija area on things like:
1. Do you believe this is a nice area to raise a family (son aged 10 and daughter aged 7)?
2. My office will be based in Sliema and our children chose to attend Newark school in Sliema and although the drive didn't seem long outside of rush hour, does anyone know roughly how long it would take to drive to Sliema from Lija around 7.30am?
3. We are from a small village on the Isle of Man so like that lifestyle of a small village with a local football club, community feeling, etc. which seems to be the same for Lija. Can anyone let us know if you do get a nice village / community feeling from living in Lija or surrounding areas?
4. Is this an area popular with my other expat families? Clearly we want to become friendly with both locals and expats however, if there are any other expats around the area in the same situation then I am sure it will help our children settle better.
We do really like the idea of Lija / Iklin however, if anyone had any other feedback on other areas such as Naxxar similar to the above, we would really appreciate it.
We really hope that someone has lived around these areas and would be grateful if you could share your experiences before we start viewing properties around the area.
Have a great weekend!
Many thanks,
Lee & Roxy
