Labor Laws for HSW

Hi Sumitran. Do you know if there are any labor laws that protect housemaids in Oman? If there are, what are them?

Hi feline on the loose,

Yes, Oman's labour laws have numerous clauses and provisions for protecting the rights and for taking care of the welfare of hired expatriate domestic help. It varies in its offerings from country to country. The best ones to guide and help you on what exactly you are seeking would be the respective embassies.

As you may probably know, it is the responsibility of every embassy in any foreign country to protect and give all possible support and assistance to its countrymen and women. That is one of the most basic and essential functions of embassies around the world. In Oman too, it is no different. But then, there are many domestic help who do not have their countries embassies here in Muscat. They would have nowhere to go to and turn for help, except to the Royal Oman Police  and the Ministry of Manpower.

Thanks a lot!
