Be safe & sure by following you common sense and following tips while

I have seen many expats getting fleeced or scammed mostly at Railway Stations, Airports and Public Places in India and this mence can be avoided if following thumb rules are strictly followed:
1) Avoid reaching your destination in late evenings unless you have confirmed room bookings with a hotel or homestay or bnb.
2) Use ATMs for converting your currency to avoid counterfeit notes and retain the withdrawal slip. It may cost you bit more but much safer.
3) Never ask the directions from a person on the street as he may be a tout. Seek directions from traffic police / shop keeper and always reconfirm it after walking / driving down a few yards.
4) Never part with original documents, tickets or passports even when dealing with govt. employees. There are many black ships ready to fleece and cheat you.
5) Under priced things always look good but not always so ! Control your greed and don't get cheated unless you are 100% sure. about the deal.
6) Never walk down alone in poorly lit deserted lanes / street in late nights.
7) While traveling by trains or buses keep you purse / bag containing cash and other valuables securely in hand or lap as there are thugs using even 2A / 3A railway tickets or flights to rob you.
8) Corruption runs in to blood of thugs and rogues (Moderated: inappropriate)
9) Don't except drinks or food from friendly strangers
10) India is one of the most corrupt country and right place for learning about fleecing, cheating, looting and even molesting but it depends how you want to learn. You have two options a) Learn by getting fleeced, cheated. looted or molested by self experiencing or b) Learn from others experiences and avoid the pitfalls as at time such bad experiences may shatter your life for ever.
All expats and even domestic travelers should share their bad experienced with others rather then forgetting them as bad dreams so that others alerted and don't get trapped..

Thanks . These are really nice tips when one is moving to other country or other place or any other state.

Thank you for your post!

I am planning to go to India. It is always great to find a good list of rules.
