I just put in my resignation at PNU and I don't care who knows it! I regret these two years that I wasted on all the stress and unappreciation. I think teachers who want to come have a right to know how it is for us.
Attendance was what did it for me. I have more than 300 students. Every single class hour, every student has to physically sign in to confirm her attendance. This I have to print on my own paper and on my own printer for students to sign. Students meet 3 hours a week. Then, every week on the weekend, I have to complete and email an attendance summary to my lead teacher for my 300+ students. Finally, every month I have to submit another attendance summary for the 4 weeks that have passed. I have to print this on my own paper and have my 300+ students sign this also. If I'm late by a day, I will get a disciplinary warning.
I'm the 7th teacher to quit this year out of about 40. And they are still wondering why we're all quitting.
I had a chat with a colleague who's been here 3 years and she said to me: I've been here 3 years and it hasn't gotten any better. Any teacher who decides to join PNU after being informed has no one to blame but herself.
