I just realized that there is a passenger ferry service from Kuwait to Iran, and even a Ro-Ro line so you can take your car with you. Reading about the requirements it doesn't seem to be such an impossible mission.
Has anyone ever used it? If so, can you share any tips? If not, wish me luck, I will share them with you if I survive to tell the story.

hmmm, this sounds interesting. although the point being, would the presence of a passport entry into Iran cause any trouble down the line?

Well, I can always get a new passport made if it turns out to be such a problem. Anything specific you had in mind? Who would be nervous about it except US, and even they are allowed to go in & out?
