Hi guys and girls!I am coming to Thailand,early next year.Chaing mai.My italian girlfriend has employment in chaing mai.However, I don't.If there is anybody out there that can give me some advise on how I can get work there?PLS HELP!I have a heavy duty truck lic.I have being in the film industry for 6 years.I have being a trapezz artist.I have done stunt work in movies and tv series.I have a black belt in kyokushin kai.I done Mauy thai for 5 years. I don't seem to b able to do the teaching thing,because I don't have a degree.I don't only want to stay there for 3 months.thanks for reading.

So far nothing has been set in stone. We know a few people who have had no trouble getting a back to back tourist visa going through the Malaysian office. The visa run bus companies are still running from Phuket to Malaysia. My husband and I both have work visas as we are teachers, but we know a bunch of people who scrambled to get an ED visa (education visa) once they first heard about the crack down. Getting an Education visa is quite easy and will allow you to stay in Thailand as long as you like. Just as long as you keep paying and attending language courses at the school of your choice(most are around 1,000 USD a year). Most language schools will help you get the proper visa. But, like anything down here in Thailand, nothing is guaranteed. They are leaving the tourist visas as of right now up to the digression of the visa officers. Although as of recently I haven't heard of any issues. I would say, come to Thailand. Don't let the media or anyone else keep you from coming here. In Thailand there are always way around things. It's very much worth the visa hassle. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Glad your coming to the land of smiles! From what I know, getting work here, LEGAL work is a hard one to come by unless you are a teacher. In most cases you can get a dependent O visa off of your partners work visa, but you have to be married. I'll tell you from first hand experience that my husband and I moved here to become teachers, he has a degree, I do not. I work as a part-time teacher at a language center. I have a dependent O visa off my husbands work visa just so we are on the same visa run cycle. But I will tell you that you finding teaching work, at least down in Phuket would not be a problem. I have a few friends who even do teaching online from Thailand.

If your looking to just staying legal here than I would look into getting a education visa. It allows you to stay in Thailand for as long as you are paying a language school to take language courses at. I haven't heard of a lot of expats working in any field other than being self-employeed or a teacher.

I am in the same vote as you. I want to move to Phuket from Australia in January 2015 as well. I have been travelling to Phuket about 4 times each year, own a condo in Patong which is rented out and want to go on the retirement visa. I would be grateful for any info or advice you may recieve.

whats your hotels name

if your single you need 800K baht in the bank for 2 months or a combination of pension and money
a non imm O visa
fill out a few forms

this is to show that you have money to live
after you get your extension of stay (retirement visa)
you can spend the money

the next year you need the above combo of money for 3 months prior to applying for ext of stay
12 months

Hi Everyone

My wife and my four kids, (12, 9, 7 and 5), together with our cats and dogs, are looking to move to Koh Samui over the summer of 2015, but dividing my time between London and Thailand for work reasons (I'm a London-based barrister).

I'm trying to learn as much as I can about expat life on the island and in Thailand in general from those who know far more than I do. All help/advice would be gratefully received.

As you have very good qualifications you may be able to do a short teachers training course.
