Looking for politically liberal country with quality health care.

I am not sure but I think that, as a retiree from another country you may have to have your own medical insurance cover.

Unless you are a citizen of the European Union, you will need a visa to live in Europe. You need to identify which countries have a retirement visa and what the requirements are - they will all be different. The UK does not have a retirement visa so that country can be struck off your list (unless you are a multi-millionaire and can qualify for an investment visa).

Thanks to all that replied to my posting. Obviously, i have a lot more research that I need to do. And no, Bob-666, I am far from being a "1-percenter"!! I would assume, however, that if I was to marry an English resident, that I wouldn't need a visa?

"Liberal country with quality Health care." is a relative , comparative and debatable term.

I understand as a retired gentleman you wish to spend time in a peaceful place which will take care of your old age issues which will come with time.

I believe you need to see first where you may legally acquire immigration, the next issue will be if your pension and savings will be sufficient which I believe is a lot more than the rent you pay in US.   


I have seen a  lot of Americans in Dubai, Thailand, Vietnam and Malta  and i suggest you consider them all.
