Re: visitors visas etc

Good Morning!
We have been following your blog for sometime and have finally signed up!!
We have been to the North coast DR many times and on our last visit, we purchased a villa between sosua and cabarete! With the plan of using as a vacation property , and a rental property until we can be there on a longer basis.
Retirement is 5 years away,(sooner if we can swing it) :) Until then we are there a little longer every year. And that is where my question is. This year, we will be there a month, so our visitors visa will be fine, but next year will be at least 2 months and we think our tourist card will expire, so what will happen? The next year hoping to be there at least 4 months. Is there another form of visa we can get that covers us for the longer periods?
Eventually, we will be there close to full time, have plans to have a small business to supplement our retirement income.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Donna and Ken

Hi Donna and Ken welcome to the forums.  Its easy  right now - overstay the visa and pay the  fine when you leave.  Over the years as this changes (we think it might)  then we will keep everyone updated!!!! The current fine for over 30 days and under 90 days is 800 RD or under US 20.

Welcome to the forum.

Where did you purchase.  We have been here full time for over 8 years now and live between Sosua and Cabarete.

Planner right for the immediate future just pay the overstay charges.

Thank You, Planner!

Hi Bob :)
We purchased in Lomas Mironas.
Good to hear from you!

We are almost neighbors as we live right behind Lomas Maronas
