But some people who have visited Singapore (I mean not the expats- but the tourists) say, cost of living is very expensive in Singapore. Is there any truth in it?

In cost of living surveys, Singapore is usually among the top ten most expensive countries in the world.
It's a great place, but don't come with a lack of funds!
Simple food (from hawker stalls) and public transport are still a bargain - compared to other highly developed countries (Europe, North America, Japan) - but that's the only cheap things I can think of.

No, we are not completely budget travelers;-) But we have decided to visit Malaysia  for 10days and from there travel to Singapore by bus for two nights only:-)
