Got an internship offer to work in Zimbabwe, need information

Hello everyone!

I am currently living in London and I just got an internship offer to work in Zimbabwe for half a year. I have previously volunteered in Uganda but know very little about Zimbabwe. Perhaps some of you might be able to answer some of my queries and tell me a little bit about the place.

1. I have some very strict eating/dietary requirements and am a bit of a health freak.. Is it possible to buy food that's all brown bread, brown pasta, low calorie and lot's of veg/salads etc? When I was in Uganda there was one big store in central town and that was it and strangely even there was none of the above, and the only veg on offer were carrots, tomatoes, cabbage and onions.. No greens..

2. What is the situation regarding safety?

3. Any tips/ advice/ things I should know about/consider when deciding whether to take up this offer?

Thank you all so much for your advice!

Hi paulina1,

A new topic was created from your post on the Zimbabwe forum for better visibility.

May be going through the Zimbabwe forum, might help you to learn more about life and other additional details about Zimbabwe. :)

Regards,

David.

Perhaps do an online search to see what types of shops, markets there are in Zim. Or you may be able to find an expat community website online.
I personally think you will be hard pressed to find what you want.  I have worked with Zimbabweans and I know from them food is available but not as specialised as you are looking for.
For cost of living etc www.numbeo.com

yeah its possible.

Hi Paulina
Did you finally came to Zimbabwe or you are still not sure?
