Dear Sri,

There is a shortage of places at child care centres in Stuttgart (and most Western German cities). Children above 2 years old are entitled to a place by law, but it can be very far from where they live. For a 1-year-old, the waitlists are many months at all facilities.
You should contact the Jugendamt to find out which facilities have the shortest waitlists (or if there happens to be a place available in any facility).
