We obviously don't.

It's a pity really. There seems to be a few francophone groups of people, but they fizzle out after one or two meetings, but very little for anglophones or a mixed language group.

Just some friendly advice.

It's unfortunately very unlikely that you will get many expats together for a dinner if you only post in the anglophone forum, for the simple reason that there are not enough to go round! The only successful meetings of expats I have been to have been promoted in all 4 language forums, although I understand that there was a very successful reunion at an African restaurant in Casa recently, promoted in the francophone forum only.

The dinners I have been to (about 4 of them until the organiser stopped doing it) were of successful, multilingual expats and there were good opportunities for networking and exchanges of conversations. Some of the meetings resulted in drinks in a bar afterwards.

Choose your venue carefully. Get promises from people who will definitely come and then reserve seats. Make sure the restaurant is pretty posh and serves alcohol with meals - if it doesn't, many people won't bother to come and spend money on what would be an unsatisfactory meal. Why go to the equivalent of a snack, after all, for a special night out?

Expect to spend at least 300 dirhams each on a successful evening and more if people go to the bar afterwards. Make this clear with a link to the menu/restaurant website.

Oh, and avoid one-to-one meetings with people. I have done this 3 times and never will again. Twice, the persons I met were pretty repulsive ladies of the night and the other was a guy who chatted with me for a while then thought that as we "were now such good friends" that I would pay for the totally fake "scanner in Rabat" that his Mum allegedly needed. When I refused he got really nasty and said I should pay him for his wasted time. Needless to say, he even paid for his own coffee and cakes and got nothing out of me! And, by the way, these people had profiles saying that they were expats. This is another reason you need to choose a quite posh venue as this sort of person will not come and spend money.

How I described the process is more or less how these two French women did it. They only posted in the francophone forum, however, and this time, the restaurant (possibly) through an oversight did not serve alcohol, something I think is a disadvantage on such an evening. They have said that they will reconsider this next time. The evening was a real success, as one can see from the testimonials.
